KENNESAW, Ga. (Aug. 27, 2025) - Atlanta United 2 earned a 4-1 win over Inter Miami CF II on a cool night at Fifth Third Stadium. The 5-Stripes extended their home unbeaten streak to four matches as four different players etched their names on the scoresheet.
Atlanta began the match on the front foot with two quick opportunities from Nyk Sessock. In the fifth minute, Atlanta spread the ball from left to right with Santiago Pita finding Sessock out wide, but his one-time effort was saved by Marco Simion. One minute later Javier Armas played a corner that found the head of Sessock, but the 25-year-old's attempt rolled wide.
Atlanta capitalized on its next chance with a goal in the eighth minute. Dominik Chong Qui played a through ball to Gabriel Wesseh on the left wing, who shook off his defender and dribbled into the box with space. The 17-year old cut the ball back to a wide open Leo Afonso, who took a touch and calmly finished in the back post for the lead.
Miami had its best chance of the half in the 16th minute. Cesar Abadia-Reda received the ball at the top of the box from a set piece, dribbled between two defenders and ripped a shot but just curled it around the top-left corner, sending the sides into halftime with Atlanta holding the lead.
Atlanta started the second half just as quickly as the first with a goal in the 49th minute. Halftime substitute Ryan Carmichael received the ball on the right from a recycled corner, and sent a cross in for Sal Mazzaferro. The captain's initial header bounced off the crossbar, but Mazzaferro recovered his own deflection and put it past Simion.
Three minutes later, Moises Tablante joined the scoresheet. Pita pressed the Miami backline and deflected a pass going across to the left, and it fell into the path of the Venezuelan who finished the wide open shot.
Miami pulled one back in the 82nd minute. Santiago Ledesma fed Diego Rey through on the left side. Jonathan Ransom got a touch on the right-footed shot, but Rey's shot was too strong for the Canadian youth international.
One minute later, Iggy Suarez scored his first professional goal. Moises Tablante dribbled through the midfield with space and fed the 16-year old on the right. Suarez took a touched and finished in the back post to cap off Atlanta's sixth win of the season.
