FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Aug. 3, 2025) - Atlanta United 2 fell 2-1 in a back-and-forth match at Inter Miami CF II on a humid Sunday night at Chase Stadium. Moises Tablante scored his fourth goal of the season as Atlanta looks toward its final game of a four-match away stretch.
The ball spent much of the opening moments of the first half between the boxes, but Atlanta capitalized on its first shot on target. In the 18th minute Patrick Weah received the ball at midfield, turned his defender and drove down the center of the pitch with pace. The Liberian entered the box with his man beat before slotting Tablante on the left to finish into an open net for the lead.
The game opened up after the first goal, with Miami having a chance in the 28th minute. Daniel Pinter received the ball on the left side of the box and beat his man, before firing a left-footed shot toward the back post, but Jonathan Ransom pushed the ball away before Atlanta cleared.
Miami leveled the score in the 44th minute. Mateo Saja won the ball out of the air at the top of Atlanta's box, and played Pinter through centrally for a one-on-one finish in the bottom-right corner.
Atlanta had the final opportunity of the first half in the first minute of stoppage time. Gabriel Wesseh received a long ball on the right before cutting inside to shoot with his left. The shot took a dangerous deflection from a Miami defender, and the ball rattled the near post before bouncing to Cooper Sanchez. The 17-year old hit a one-time volley at the top of the box but couldn't keep it on frame to enter halftime level at one.
Just two minutes into the second half, Atlanta nearly retook the lead. Weah received the ball at the top of Miami's box, and he fed a streaking Tablante on the left. The Venezuelan took a one-time shot with his right, but goalkeeper Matias Marin stretched to make the save and Miami cleared the ball.
In the 79th minute, Weah received an over the top ball and was one-on-one against Marin. The Miami shot-stopper stepped out of the box and tripped Weah to initially receive a yellow card. After a discussion from the officials, Marin received a straight red card for denial of a goal scoring opportunity.
Miami took the lead in the 85th minute. Idoh Zelter-Zubida received the ball through on the left after a successful counterpress. Two-on-one, Zelter-Zubida played a cross to Lovends Delinois to beat the defender, and the substitute finished to earn Miami a late win.
