Atlanta United 2 fell 4-1 to Inter Miami CF II at Chase Stadium on Sunday evening. French forward Karim Tmimi claimed his fifth goal for ATL UTD 2 this season while 16-year-old Academy product Jonathan Ransom made his professional debut with his appearance in the starting XI.
Miami quickly got on the scoresheet in the fourth minute when Ryan Carmichael collected a cross from the left wing, which was gently brought down and left for Santiago Morales to tap in a shot from the penalty area. Inter Miami nearly doubled the lead in the 29th minute after Dairon Reyes wound up for a shot outside the box that was heading for the right side of goal but Ransom dove to make the save.
In the 52nd minute, Morales carried the ball toward's Atlanta's goal in a three-on-two counter before he laid off a pass for Alejandro Flores De La Paz to the left of the penalty spot, but Matt Edwards was quick to make the recovery and get in front of his shot. In the 64th, Carmichael received a pass between Atlanta's centerbacks just inside the box for a one-on-one opportunity with Ransom but the Academy product dropped to kick away the shot with his left foot.
Miami was awarded a penalty in the 67th minute. Carmichael floated a long-range ball to the far post that was brought down in the box by Alejo Ristano, who was tripped up by Jacob Williams attempting to pressure the defender. Reyes stepped up for the penalty in the 69th, putting his attempt into the bottom right corner.
Tmimi was able to break the seal for Atlanta in the 75th minute. Matรญas Gallardo launched a pass to Tmimi at the left side of the box, who quickly cut in past his defender and slipped a shot beyond the Miami keeper.
Miami scored two more goals in the waning minutes of the contest, an own-goal in the 83rd minute and a goal from Idoh Zeltzer-Zubida finished off Miami's scoring in the first minute of stoppage time.
