ATLANTA — Atlanta United 2 today announced the transfer of midfielder Jonantan Villal to Liga MX side Atlético San Luis. The former Academy standout has played with ATL UTD 2 since 2021.
Villal was a member of Atlanta United’s inaugural U-12 Academy team in 2016 and has been with the club since he was 11 years old. After working his way through the Academy ranks, the midfielder made his professional debut on July 10, 2021 for ATL UTD 2 against Sporting KC II. After two appearances in 2021, Villal signed his first professional contract in January 2022 with ATL UTD 2. Over the past two seasons, Villal has played in 36 matches and produced one goal and six assists across USL Championship and MLS NEXT Pro.
