MLS SuperDraft pick Leo Afonso leads Miami in scoring this year, having bagged seven goals in 2024 which has earned him a First Team contract while Nykolas Sessock leads their squad in assists with five. Atlanta could also face some unexpected foes after Miami’s exit from Leagues Cup 2024 as the MLS Eastern Conference leaders look to gear up for the last stretch of the season.

ATL UTD 2 continued its winning ways in its last matchup, stringing together its third straight victory in a 2-1 home triumph over Toronto FC II. The visitors struck first after Julian Altobelli slotted in a direct free kick to the top right corner in the 16th minute. The match swung in Atlanta’s favor in the 26th minute after Javier Armas played a lofted through ball to Luke Brennan who was pulled down by his defender and shown a red card for the denial of a goal scoring opportunity. Nick Firmino went for goal on the subsequent free kick, but his attempt rattled off the post and landed at the feet of Kaiden Moore to score his first professional goal. ATL UTD 2 went up 2-1 in the 48th after Brennan whipped a cross into the box, however, his pass was deflected and the ball landed in the middle of the six-yard box for Rodrigo Neri to rise over the keeper to head home. In the 61st, Neri was also shown a red card for striking the keeper’s face with his elbow, with neither side finding chances from there.
