ATLANTA — Five Atlanta United players have been called up to their respective youth national teams in January. Noah Cobb and Adyn Torres have joined U.S. Youth National Team training camps, Malachi Grant and Ashton Gordon will represent Jamaica’s U-17s and Efrain Morales will represent Bolivia’s U-20s.
Cobb, 17, has been called up to the U.S. Under-19 Men’s Youth National Team for a training camp at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida from Jan. 5 to Jan. 13. The Homegrown defender will join Atlanta’s First Team in 2023 after progressing through the Academy where he began with the U-12s. Cobb made his professional debut with Atlanta United 2 on July 18, 2021 and made 37 USL appearances over the past two seasons. He was named an MLS NEXT All-Star in 2022.
Grant and Gordon have both joined Jamaica’s U-17 team for a training camp as it prepares for the 2023 Concacaf U-17 Championship in Guatemala from Feb. 11-22. Grant, a 16-year-old defender and MLS NEXT All-Star in 2022, and Gordon, a 15-year-old forward, both represent Atlanta United’s U-17s.
Morales, 18, has joined Bolivia’s squad as it prepares for the 2023 South American U-20 Championship in Colombia from Jan. 19 to Feb. 12. He has one appearance with Bolivia’s U-20s, making his debut in a friendly against Venezuela’s U-20s on Dec. 13, 2022. The Homegrown center back has 34 career USL Championship appearances and started 17 of his 24 appearances with Atlanta United 2 in 2022.
Torres, 15, has joined the U.S. Under-16 Men’s Youth National Team for a training camp in Tampa, Florida from Jan. 4 to Jan. 13, his first call-up to the U.S. The midfielder was named to the U-15 Best XI Team at the 2022 Generation adidas Cup in June where he helped Atlanta’s U-15s advance to the semifinals. The Atlanta native joined the Academy in 2020 from Gwinnett Soccer Academy.
