Liam Curran was promoted to First Team Goalkeepers Coach on Feb. 18, 2020. Â
Under Curran’s guidance, Atlanta United’s goalkeepers posted a club best 1.09 GAA in the 2021 season. Brad Guzan and Alec Kann combined for 121 total saves and 10 clean sheets during the 2021 MLS Regular Season.  Â
The Sydney, Australia native had served with the Atlanta United Academy since 2017. He also oversaw Atlanta United 2’s goalkeepers at the USL Championship level during the 2018-19 seasons. He brings several years of coaching experience at the academy, club and collegiate level. Before joining Atlanta United, Curran was an Assistant Coach at Clemson University from 2012-16. During his time with the Tigers program, Clemson were National Finalists (2015), ACC Tournament Champions (2014) and ACC Atlantic Division Champs (2014).Â
Curran also was a part of the University of Akron coaching staff in 2010 when the Zips won their lone NCAA National Championship. Curran has coached and mentored several goalkeepers who have gone on to play professional soccer, including former Clemson standout Andrew Tarbell who was selected with the eighth overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.Â
Curran brings a strong pedigree in goalkeeper coaching and is well versed in performance analysis. He holds a NSCAA Advanced Diploma, USSF 'B' license, and a DFB Goalkeeping Course.
