The 2021 MLS SuperDraft is quickly approaching. For many young players, Thursday’s event represents the culmination of a lifetime of effort. Now all that remains is for them to wait to see if they get that call.
Unlike in previous years, this year’s draft will occur on a single day, featuring three rounds of selections. Since 2013, the SuperDraft has consisted of four rounds of selections, spread over two days. Austin FC will receive the first pick of the draft, as they look to finalize their inaugural roster. Atlanta United has the fifth overall pick.
Players who are eligible for the MLS SuperDraft include college seniors, Generation adidas players, and athletes who have waived their college eligibility by signing to play in a domestic professional league since the conclusion of the 2019 college soccer season.
