When you take home two wins in one week of matches, it's going to turn heads. And the team is getting the recognition it deserves, with Miguel Almirón and Julian Gressel each named in the MLS Team of the Week this Week, while Tito Villalba and Josef Martinez each earned a spot on the bench.
Almirón was his usual, dynamic self in the middle, constantly the focal point of the attack. He tacked on the equalizing goal against San Jose as well as the pinpoint cross to Josef's head for the winner on Wednesday. He followed that up with another assist on Saturday, driving to the byline and crossing to Julian Gressel at the corner of the box for his eventual game-winner.
Gressel had another clinical week from the right wing, starting with the assist on Tito Villalba's Goal of the Week nominee against San Jose on Wednesday. Then on Saturday he was as decisive as anyone on the field, scoring a Goal of the Week nominee of this own before setting up Tito Villalba for the second goal of the match later in the half in a Man of the Match performance.
Joining them on the bench for the Team of the Week was Tito Villalba and Josef Martinez, who chipped in with goals a piece over the course of the week. All in all, a dominant week for the Five Stripes ends up with a dominant showing in the weekly award.
