ATLANTA (Oct. 14, 2021) – The USL Championship announced on Thursday that an ineligible player played for Sporting Kansas City II on Wednesday night against Atlanta United 2.
SKC II midfielder Jake Davis was scheduled to serve a one-game suspension for caution accumulation during the contest but instead played the full 90 minutes.
As a result, Sporting Kansas City II forfeits the match and has been fined an undisclosed amount. Davis will serve the suspension on Oct. 24 at Birmingham Legion FC.
Per league rules, Atlanta United 2 has been awarded a 3-0 victory. Atlanta moves to 34 points and remains in contention to reach the USL Championship Playoffs with its next game being Saturday at Memphis 901 FC.
ATL UTD 2 (7-13-11, 30 points) will return to action Saturday, Oct. 16 against Memphis 901 FC at AutoZone Park (ESPN+, 7:00 p.m. ET).
