Good news, 17s. Pedro Amador is back. The Portuguese fullback was not listed with an injury on Atlanta United's availability report Friday ahead of Saturday's match against New York Red Bulls. Head coach Ronny Deila didn't confirm on Thursday whether Amador would be able to start the match, but his exclusion from the injury list means there's a chance we see him out on the pitch at Mercedes-Benz Stadium tomorrow.
Amador missed the first two games of Atlanta United's season with a hamstring injury, a knock that prevented him from competing in preseason. His return, as Deila said Thursday, would be massive for squad depth at the position and would make the 5-Stripes more threatening in wide areas.
Still, Atlanta United is without two fullbacks, Brooks Lennon and Ronald HernƔndez. Lennon has yet to make an appearance this season while recovering from a shoulder injury sustained in the Eastern Conference Semifinals last fall. HernƔndez picked up his quad injury after the start of the regular season, as he started the opener against CF MontrƩal. Forward Jamal ThiarƩ also has a quad injury that will sideline him for Saturday's match.
Additionally, the club announced Dominik Chong Qui signed his third of four allotted short-term agreements this season. The 17-year-old fullback made his first MLS appearance as a substitute in the Charlotte match and will be available against Red Bulls.
