Atlanta United today announced it has extended the loan of defender Anton Walkes until the end of the season. Currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur FC, Walkes has made eight league appearances, started five matches and scored one goal.
Walkes was inserted into the starting lineup in MLS action on June 24 against Colorado and has started every match since. Atlanta has gone unbeaten in that stretch (4-0-1) and has allowed just three goals to go along with three clean sheets. In all competitions, Walkes has made 10 appearances and seven starts. He started both matches against Charleston Battery and Miami FC in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Born in Lewisham, England, Walkes spent his entire youth career with Tottenham Hotspur. His run with the senior team began last summer, appearing against Juventus during the International Champions Cup in Melbourne, Australia. Walkes then earned a start the following match against Atletico Madrid.
