Winning and success in sports comes in different shapes and sizes. For Inter Miami FC, it is built off the backs of star power from players like Luis Suárez, Leonardo Campana, and of course, Lionel Messi. Despite having the odds against them, Atlanta United were able to stamp a piece of history with their win over Inter Miami on Wednesday, May 29.
The 5-Stripes not only achieved their 100th regular season win in club history, but with the win it was the first time Messi has lost a match he has scored in since Argentina's loss to Saudi Arabia in their opening match of the 2022 World Cup. At the club level, it was the first time Messi lost a match where he scored since May 2021 when playing with Barcelona they lost to Celta Vigo.
Atlanta United also broke their nine match winless streak, all while Inter Miami's 10 match winning streak was ended.
