Some of Atlanta United’s brightest young stars are preparing to represent the United States at the FIFA U-17 World Cup – and now they know who they will be matching up against.
FIFA held the official draw for the group stages for the world’s premier tournament for the age group, which will be held in India later this year. The U.S. will be paired with the host nation, India, as well as Colombia and Ghana, a team that has grown into a bit of a rivalry with the red, white and blue at the senior level.
While the final lineup for this year’s World Cup has not yet been released, three of Atlanta United’s academy products were selected in the team’s last competitive roster earlier this Spring: Homegrowns Chris Goslin and Andrew Carleton as well as Academy standout Zyen Jones. The tournament doesn't start until October, but in the meantime, here’s a little reminder of what happened the last time Carleton was called up for the U-17’s at an international tournament:
