On Thursday, EA announced that Atlanta United's eSports duo have been selected for the FIFA 22 Global Series (FGS) Masters program, a new platform for the most competitive teams in the FIFA ecosystem to showcase their talents and grow the game's global audience.
Atlanta United is one of 16 teams worldwide to be selected for the elite program, and one of just three soccer clubs, alongside Ajax and Inter Milan.
The club's participation in the program means Atlanta United will be featured not only in EA content, but in the game as well!
From badges, to TIFOs to Volta, supporters can rep Atlanta United in almost every aspect of the game and support Paulo and Vini as they represent the 5-Stripes in the FIFA 22 Global Series!
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE FIFA 22 GLOBAL SERIES
The FIFA 22 Global Series is the pinnacle of for FIFA players worldwide. Each year, hundreds of thousands of players compete through the various stages of the Global Series in hopes of qualifying for the FIFAe World Cup and being crowned world champions.
This year, EA is fully embracing 2v2 competition with a new major tournament, Team of the Year Cup, that will qualify the winners for the FIFAe Club World Cup.
As FGS Masters, Atlanta United gained automatic qualification to the Team of the Year Cup, which is scheduled to take place in April 2022. The tournament will feature 32 teams—16 who qualify via the online Global Series Open and the 16 Masters.
The winners of the Team of the Season Cup will earn a seat at the FIFAe Club World Cup and a chance to be lift the game's most coveted prize.
In addition to the Global Series, our Brazilian duo can also qualify for the FIFAe Club World Cup via the eLibertadores.
Vini finished in the Top 8 of the 2021 eLibertadores and was ranked #11 in the the FIFA Global Series.
Paulo Neto qualified for the 2021 FIFAe World Cup, but the tournament was unable to be played due to health and safety concerns. He finished as the #3 ranked player in South America and #1 the year prior.
This season, they'll pursue the ultimate prize together, representing Atlanta United on the biggest stage that FIFA has to offer.
