Atlanta United's under 14 squad traveled to Gravenzande in the Netherlands to participate in the ninth edition of the Greenport International U14 Tournament on August 23 through August 25. After taking on Belgium club KRC Genk in the final, the 5-Stripes walked away with the victory after participating in penalty shootouts.
This the second year in a row that Atlanta's under 14 team made it to the finals. In 2023, they faced Scottish club Aberdeen; that match also ended in a penalty shootout with Aberdeen walking away with the victory. Atlanta ended the tournament being ranked first out of the 16 teams.
What is the Greenport International U14 Tournament?
Previously called the Boal International Tournament, the Greenport International Tournament is a competition made up of 16 clubs from all around the world. The 16 clubs are divided into two groups to play each other. Teams play each other until they are down to the final two clubs. At the end of the tournament, each club is ranked based on how they performed during the competition.
