It’s playoff time for Atlanta United’s U19s as they begin their hunt for the UPSL Georgia Division Championship, Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET against Atlanta Elephants FC.
The U19s, led by head coach José Silva, earned a bye after finishing second in the regular season. A win on Wednesday will see them book their spot in the final.
They host Atlanta Elephants FC at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground for the second time this season.
The first match on Sept. 25 was a back-and-forth affair. The visitors jumped out to a lead in the first half, despite Atlanta United finding the woodwork twice.
Andy Sullins found the breakthrough goal for the 5-Stripes before the half and the go-ahead goal came at the start of the second half. Despite conceding the equalizer, José Silva’s squad kept pushing, and in the end, it was Bryce Griffith who scored the winner.
The U19s proved they could produce on the offensive end against Wednesday’s opponents. This time around, they’ll look to make things more comfortable for themselves and limit chances for a team that is more than capable of converting them.
Atlanta Elephants FC (6-1-3) finished fourth in the standings, four points behind Atlanta United (8-0-2, 2nd). They carry some momentum going into this match having gone unbeaten in their last six matches, including a first-round victory over Seas Jamaica.
It has all the billings of a great matchup, and will be available to watch live at ELEVEN Sports.
