Atlanta United Unified closed out its 2026 campaign with a 2-1 win against Chicago Fire Unified, completing yet another unbeaten season. The 5-Stripes are now four complete seasons into an unprecedented undefeated run after an energetic battle at Mercedes-Benz Stadium Saturday afternoon. The match was played on a full pitch with 25-minute halves, testing the fitness of both sides.Â
For a team that's kicked off a match as late as 11:30 p.m. this season, an afternoon 2:30 p.m. kickoff was the earliest of their 2026 season. The 17s were prepared to bring the energy, and they had a tifo ready to celebrate the conclusion of another campaign.

The 5-Stripes came out with ambition early on, creating the better of the chances in the first 25 minutes. They used a press and work rate to create goalscoring opportunities high up the pitch. Anthony Hernandez and Xaiver Hairston registered shots, but the hosts weren't able to find an opening goal.Â
Coming out of the break, both teams easied back into the match, as defenders stood strong on either side of the pitch.Â
Atlanta United earned an indirect free kick in the 38th minute after a back pass from Chicago. Ike Eiswirth made the obligatory first touch, and Hairston thumped a left-footed shot into the back of the net for 1-0.
Hairston wasn't done there. Atlanta United Unified's all-time leading scorer secured his brace in the 44th minute, breaking in behind the Chicago defense with a well-timed run. He took a couple touches and finished the chance comfortably to put the 5-Stripes ahead 2-0.

Liam Stuart was once again lively on the left side of the attack, nearly scoring in the 49th minute. Chicago Fire did get a goal back in the 50th minute from a curling longshot by Orlando Johnson, but the 5-Stripes had enough to secure a 2-1 victory after clearing a late set piece.Â
Yet another historic season for Atlanta United Unified extended the program's unbeaten run. The players from both sides were applauded by the 17s in attendance, celebrating the end of another successful season.
