Availability Report: Players ready after international duty

Availability-Report-March-28-3

All the players who traveled away from the club on international duty have returned to Atlanta and will be available for selection Saturday against New York City FC.

The eight first team players called up to join their home countries was the most out of any club in MLS. It was exciting to see Atlanta United represent on the global stage, including Miguel Almirón, who started both matches for Paraguay in World Cup qualifying matches. So many absences did test Atlanta United's depth last weekend on the road, but the club fared well and earned a hard-fought point at TQL Stadium against Evander and FC Cincinnati.

A fuller squad available comes at an opportune time. Saturday's matchup is the first of three straight at Mercedes-Benz Stadium against New York City FC, FC Dallas and New England Revolution.

It's a pivotal part of Atlanta United's schedule. With an opportunity to capture nine points at home, players are eager to put their best foot forward in front of their passionate home crowd.

"I'm looking forward to trying to keep this clean sheet and making Mercedes-Benz more of a fortress," center back Derrick Williams told reporters Thursday. "Hopefully we can get some luck going our way and get that clean sheet."

To add defensive numbers, Atlanta United has also signed Dominik Chong Qui to a short-term agreement for the match against NYCFC. This is the fourth and final short-term agreement of the season for the 17-year-old defender. Chong Qui made his debut a few weeks ago in Atlanta's match at Charlotte FC, becoming the third-youngest player in club history to make an MLS appearance.

Saturday will also be the first match without Tristan Muyumba. The defensive midfielder exited the match against FC Cincinnati and is expected to miss three weeks due to leg injuries, the club announced.

Muyumba played well in the three matches he started this season for Atlanta United, completing 92.6% of his passes through the first five matches. With Bartosz Slisz and Jay Fortune back from international callups, along with healthy options Will Reilly and Mateusz Klich, head coach Ronny Deila will look to pull from his pool of depth as he faces his former club.
