Pedro Amador and Alexey Miranchuk are both healthy and available for head coach Ronny Deila heading into Saturday's afternoon kick between Atlanta United and New England Revolution at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Amador returns after missing the club's previous two matches. The Portuguese fullback was all set to appear in the starting XI against New York City FC on March 29, but came off the pitch during warmups with a quad injury. Miranchuk also is ready after facing a minor knock that limited him last week. The midfielder ended up coming off the bench in the 67th minute in Atlanta United's 1-1 draw with FC Dallas on April 5.
Miranchuk has contributed one goal in his six starts for the 5-Stripes on the season. Two weekends ago, he scored his first goal of 2025. Latte Lath's touch inside the box teed up a shot perfectly for Miranchuk, and the midfielder charged in to equalize the match against NYCFC, a match Atlanta United eventually won 4-3.
"I'm happy with what's going on on the field," Miranchuk told reporters Thursday. "In terms of offense and creating chances, of course we should score more goals and passes. We got moments, we have opportunities, so that's most important."
He's part of the group of attacking talent that Deila is looking to maximize as we enter the eighth matchday of the regular season. Yesterday during media availability, the manager talked about coloring the painting to make sure the picture on the pitch is the best it can be.
Miranchuk's creativity is a hue that can bring out the brightness of the others around him -- it's a matter of finding the right colors to mix with and those that will bring out the most of his special set of skills. Amador brings value to the defense with his experience and can add an artistic flourish, based on his eight assists last year, to the attack.
"We have to get things to fit," Deila said.
