Dr. David A Thomas – 12th and current President of Morehouse College
David A. Thomas, Ph. D., currently serves as the 12th president of Morehouse College, a historically Black men’s college in Atlanta. Through his tenure, which began in 2018, Dr. Thomas has been praised for the transformational advancements he’s brought to Moorehouse, along with overseeing the most successful fundraising campaign in the history of the college. Since his installment, Morehouse has also launched online degree programs and further positioned itself as a premiere institution of higher learning.
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Thomas earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University and later earned a master’s degree from Columbia University. He then returned to Yale to earn his Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy. Dr. Thomas then went on to serve as a professor at Harvard University, where he would become director of the school’s Organizational Behavior Unit. Immediately prior to joining Morehouse, Dr. Thomas served as the dean of the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.
Dr. Thomas is featured in the 2023 Atlanta United FC production ‘Inside the 404’, where he talks about the trajectory of the city of Atlanta and how the 90s shaped where the city is today. ‘Inside the 404’ is a documentary produced by Atlanta United FC in collaboration with Atlanta Influences Everything, as part of the launch of the 404 Kit, Atlanta United’s 2023 third kit.
