Atlanta United's Brad Guzan has won the MLS Save of the Week award for his stunning point-blank save on Bradley Wright-Phillips against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday. After a quick free kick got the ball behind the the Atlanta United defense, a cross into the middle fell to the feet of Wright-Phillips just feet outside the goal, but Guzan was quick to get down and put a strong hand on the ball to deflect it over the net to preserve the crucial clean sheet.
Guzan has now gone 482 minutes – over 8 hours – of competitive play since conceding a goal, the 10th-longest shutouts streak in MLS history. The Atlanta United faithful came through strong yet again in an online poll to give Brad 76% of the vote, five times the the vote total of the second-place finisher. This is Guzan's second MLS Save of the Week award in his second nomination, after he won for his incredible save on the road against Orlando City in his Atlanta United debut earlier this year.
