Atlanta United enters the June international break with a 4-5-4 record. The team has faced some exciting highs, such as striker Ronaldo Cisneros’s hat trick in the 4-1 win over Chicago FC, as well as some difficult lows like losing center back Miles Robinson to injury.
With the season one-third of the way through, here’s a look at the first few months by the numbers and how Atlanta United has continued its 2022 campaign:

Atlanta United has scored 20 goals so far in MLS competition this season, which is approximately in the top-third for league scoring. For Atlanta, there’s not a single player dominating the statistics. Instead, the 5-Stripes are getting goals from a variety of players and have nine different scorers on the season.
During the most recent stretch, strikers have come up big in the absence of Josef Martínez. Cisneros has led the way with four goals since his arrival in April, and Dom Dwyer netted the game-tying goal in the 88th minute against Nashville SC for his third goal in MLS this season.

It was a long journey back to the pitch for Emerson Hyndman, 322 days to be exact, but on April 16 in the 88th minute against FC Cincinnati, the midfielder made his long-awaited return. It was Hyndman’s first appearance since he tore his ACL during a training session last year. After that first appearance in April, the midfielder has played in five more MLS matches. He’s seen his numbers grow as he works on attaining his number one goal: getting 90 minutes fit.

Going into the June international break, Atlanta United holds a 4-5-4 record and is positioned in 10th place in the standings. Through 13 matches, the club has earned 16 points, which is 10 behind the current leader in the Eastern Conference, defending MLC Cup champion New York City FC. Atlanta United will have an opportunity to make up some ground when it returns from the break with four straight matches against conference opponents. First up, Inter Miami at home on June 19.

Midfielder Thiago Almada has scored a goal and recorded an assist in two consecutive matches against New England Revolution and Nashville SC. He’s just the third player in Atlanta United history to reach the feat, joining Miguel Almirón and Ezequiel Barco. The stellar performances earned Almada league-wide respect. He was named to the MLS Team of the Week two consecutive times on May 16 and May 23.

Brooks Lennon has recorded this number in not one but two categories: key passes and successful crosses. Those numbers are good enough to lead the team and rank Lennon among one of the league’s best. Head coach Gonzalo Pineda preaches “prime assist zones” and, if these numbers are an indication, Lennon seems to have a good handle on how to create good situations for his attacking teammates.

Atlanta United had a good run going unbeaten at home going all the way back to the 2021 season. Unfortunately, the streak came to an end on May 28 with a 2-1 loss to Columbus Crew at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Although getting past 13 proved to be unlucky for the 5-Stripes, the run was monumental. It was the longest regular season home unbeaten streak ever in club history.

There has yet to be an American Family Insurance Cup played in Atlanta, but that’s all about to change on June 14 when the inaugural match kicks off at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta United plays host to CF Pachuca, a professional club from Mexico. CF Pachuca is coming off a successful season in Liga MX. The club finished the regular season at the top of the table with a 12-3-2 record and made it to the 2022 MX Clausura final where they fell to defending champion Atlas 2-3 on aggregate.
