The Atlanta United Academy is back in action this weekend, hosting Charlotte FC for the first time this season. The U-14s, U-15s and U-17s all square off against the MLS newcomers this Saturday at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground.
The U-15 and U-17 matches will once again be available for fans to stream live via Atlanta United’s Twitch channel at twitch.tv/atlutd.
Goals on Goals
Both the U-15s and U-17s are in a good rhythm, having just come off impressive wins against Nashville in January.
Both sides played the Six Strings twice, with the U-17s sweeping 4-0 and 3-0. The U-15s played to a 1-1 draw in the first game before winning comfortably in the second by a score of 4-1.
The U-15s and U-17s will have an advantage over Charlotte in that the visitors will be playing their first MLS NEXT games of the year this weekend. Their last outings came all the way back in late November against Nashville, giving Atlanta a leg up on them with two games already under their belt.
Home sweet home
The U-14s’ last opponent was also Nashville back in December, with the 5-Stripes winning 1-0, extending the Academy’s unbeaten streak at home.
The entire Atlanta United Academy hasn’t lost at home since October, and it’ll hope to extend that run past this weekend when Charlotte comes to town.
When looking at the entire season at home, the U-17s and U-15s have each lost just one match to Toronto and DC United, respectively. All other age groups have not suffered a single home loss.
