The Bell family has supported the Five Stripes from the beginning, and shows it with their flags. There’s a line of red, black and gold inside their house, and another flag on the porch. But that almost changed a week ago when management of their apartment complex asked them to take the flag down.
“We went to the ownership here and said, ‘Hey we’re in the playoffs we should be able to keep it up for a little while longer,’” Jason Bell said. “They said we could keep it up at least until the playoffs are over.”
Fighting for his flag paid off, as Brittany Arnold and the Atlanta United team surprised him as the next “Flags Out” winner. Thanks to our partners at Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q, the Bells won free tickets to the final home match of the regular season against Toronto FC, an Atlanta United swag bag, and a barbecue dinner at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground with an Atlanta United player.
All season, Atlanta United has been cruising the streets of Atlanta – ITP and OTP – in search of winners for their “Flags Out campaign.” Winners in the past have won exclusive unreleased copies of EA Sports FIFA 18, free suite tickets, free pizza for a year and an all-expense paid trip to an Atlanta United road match. But the Bell family already had the road match covered.
“We’re flying to New York City and going Sunday night to see the match against the Red Bulls,” Bell said. “We’ll be sitting with the Footie Mob fans and sitting right there at Red Bulls Stadium, cheering them on on the road. Gotta get them wherever we can, right?”
But they have plenty to look forward to with a special addition to the final home match when they return from New York.
“I can’t believe you guys found me here [in the apartment complex]. I’m thrilled, this is so cool! I’m looking forward to it, it’s been a great season.”
