U.S.
Teams in CONCACAF like the U.S. play two matches in November. These matches are part of 14 total in the last stage of World Cup qualification that ultimately determines which nations will compete in Qatar. The U.S. needs to finish in third place or better at the end of those 14 matches to earn an automatic berth in the 2022 World Cup. (A fourth-place finish would send them into a playoff.)
The U.S. has played six of the 14 matches so far. The national team enters November in second place with a 3-2-1 record in the CONCACAF group of FIFA World Cup Qualifying.
This year, the CONCACAF final round of qualifying consists of eight teams – known as The Octagonal. In the past, only six teams competed in the final round. The USMNT went 1-0-2 in the first leg of the Octagonal, tying El Salvador 0-0 and Canada 1-1 before tallying four goals in a 4-1 victory over Honduras. The U.S. squad won twice in the second leg, beating Costa Rica 2-1 and Jamaica 2-0.
In this round, VAR is not used, one point is awarded for a draw at the end of regulation (no penalty shootouts) and teams can swap players from game to game (there is no set or final roster).
Here's everything you need to know about the USMNT’s November matches and how to watch:

USA vs. Mexico
Cincinnati, Ohio
- The international rivals meet in what’s expected to be a high stakes showdown between the top two teams in the CONCACAF table. Robinson also returns to TQL Stadium for the second time in a week. The last time he played there on Nov. 7, he scored his first career MLS goal to help Atlanta United beat FC Cincinnati 2-1 and clinch a berth in the MLS Cup Playoffs. And the last time he faced Mexico, this happened. We’ll see if history can repeat for the stalwart center back against Mexico on Friday.
Tuesday, November 16 – 5:00 p.m. ET
Jamaica vs. USA
Kingston, Jamaica
- The United States travels to Jamaica for its only matchup this round not played on American soil. Jamaica enters the month with a 1-2-3 record and ranked sixth in the table. When the nations met previously in October, striker Ricardo Pepi scored two second-half goals to lead USA to a 2-0 win.
U.S. U-20s
Wiley was called up to the U.S. U-20 men’s national team for the Revelations Cup in Mexico from Nov. 7-17. The tournament helps the squad prepare for the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship, which will serve as qualification to the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The academy player represented the U.S. U-17s in a UEFA Development Tournament last year. This is the 16-year-old's first call up for the U-20s.
The Revelations Cup will play a round-robin schedule. Matches will kick off at the Miguel Alemán Valdés stadium, home to the Celaya Football Club, located in the city of Celaya in Guanajuato.

Venezuela
While the U.S. is competing for a spot in the World Cup in CONCACAF, Venezuela is competing in CONMEBOL or the South American section. Teams in this grouping include two of world’s top FIFA ranked teams: Brazil (No. 2) and Argentina (No. 6).
Venezuela has only won once in the past six qualifying matches and is currently ranked last in the group. With just seven points in the CONMEBOL table, it’ll be an uphill task for Venezuela to qualify, but Hernández could see quality playing time against some of the world’s best.
Here's everything you need to know about Venezuela’s November matches and how to watch:
Tuesday, November 11 – 4:00 p.m. ET
Ecuador vs. Venezuela
Quito, Ecuador
- Ecuador has had a strong showing so far and enters the matchup ranked third in the table behind only Brazil and Argentina. However, in recent meetings Venezuela has played Ecuador close. The nations have tied three of their last four matches, and Ecuador’s last loss came at the hands of Venezuela on Oct. 10.
Tuesday, November 16 – 4:00 p.m. ET
Venezuela vs. Peru
Caracas, Venezuela
- The two teams at the bottom of the CONMEBOL table meet, each hoping to get a victory. After starting all three of Venezuela’s matches during the October FIFA window, Hernández is looking to add to his 26 total appearances. The right back has scored one goal, one assist and has appeared in eight World Cup qualifying matches.
South Sudan
Chol will join the Bright Stars for two friendly matches in November. The Atlanta United Homegrown player has made nine MLS appearances and four starts this season and tallied one assist. At 22 years old, this is his first international call-up.
