Atlanta United announced today former midfielder Jeff Larentowicz will join Sunday’s USL Championship broadcast as color analyst as Atlanta United 2 takes on Memphis 901 FC (3:30 p.m. EST, ESPN+) at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Larentowicz will be joined on the call by veteran play-by-play commentator Jon Nelson.
Larentowicz will fill in for analyst Jason Longshore, who will be on the radio broadcast alongside Mike Conti for the First Team match against Seattle Sounders FC (4:30 p.m. EST, FOX, Star 94.1).
“Jeff will always be a key part of Atlanta United’s history and we’re excited to welcome him back to the club to make his broadcasting debut,” Atlanta United President Darren Eales said. “Throughout his decorated career, Jeff was as cerebral on the pitch as he was off it. It’s evident he’ll be able to make that natural progression into the broadcast industry.”
Larentowicz, a 16-year MLS veteran who retired from professional soccer on April 5, will be making his broadcast debut on Sunday. He joined Atlanta United for its inaugural 2017 season and helped the club win three trophies during his time (MLS Cup in 2018, U.S. Open Cup in 2019, Campeones Cup in 2019). During his four seasons with the club, he amassed more appearances (132) than any player and still leads the club in MLS appearances with 121. Over his MLS career, he made 437 league appearances, which is second-most in league history among field players.
ATL UTD 2 improved to 2-1-1 (7 points) after a 5-0 win over previously undefeated FC Tulsa Wednesday night. Aiden McFadden netted two goals and recorded an assist en route to the big win over the first-place team in the Central Division. Chris Allan, Tyler Wolff and Coleman Gannon each registered a goal as well. It was the fourth time in ATL UTD 2 history that the club scored five goals in a match, and it was the club’s largest margin of victory.
