A huge Eastern Conference win and another MLS record –– Atlanta United's performance on Sunday is catching the eye of MLS league writers.
It was a complete performance from the squad from front to back, but Josef Martinez delivered the match-winning moments. His first goal just before halftime broke an MLS record as his 10th straight match with a goal. His penalty kick in the second half put him at twenty on the season, just three goals off the Golden Boot lead. His seven shots were his best yet for Atlanta United, showing he his threat is only growing every match.
Julian Gressel was a menace on the right wing all match, serving up beautiful delivery after beautiful delivery for the strikers in the middle. On top of his assist, he was credited with an astonishing 7 chances created in the match. He also led the team in crosses, penalty box entries and through balls, all while locking down the flank on the defensive side.
