For the second week in a row, Atlanta United is being recognized in the MLS Team of the Week.
Coming off his hat trick performance against Vancouver over the weekend, Josef Martinez has been named in the squad by league writers. After scoring the penalty to open the scoring, he added the eventual game-winner in the second half. And with Vancouver pressuring late in the match with a goal of their own, Martinez rose highest to Andrew Carleton's cross to slam home the dagger just before the 90th minute. He scored with every shot that he put on target, and paired that with an efficient 85% passing accuracy during the match.
Joining him is Julian Gressel, who was named on the bench for another stellar performance on the right wing this week. The reigning Rookie of the Year is putting together an impressive opening stretch of the season after being named in the starting XI of the MLS Team of the Week last week.
