After making his MLS debut against Los Angeles FC, goalkeeper Josh Cohen made his first MLS start against Inter Miami FC. Only allowing one goal against Miami, Cohen is now 5-1 in his six apperances across MLS and Next Pro Next Pro.
He made two starts for Atlanta United 2, as well as two starts for the first team in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. In each of those apperances, he got a clean sheet. His late match heroics in the Round of 16 of the Open Cup against Charleston Battery propelled the 5-Stripes to the quarterfinals.
The Californian goalkeeper made his MLS debut on Saturday, May 25 against LAFC, coming in after Brad Guzan received a red card. He allowed only two goals between his debut and his start against a star riddled Inter Miami team. Miami had 13 shots in total and 6 on target; Cohen allowed only one goal to Lionel Messi.
Cohen was signed during the offseason. Cohen most recently played for Maccabi Haifa in the Israeli Premier League where he won three consecutive league titles, was named the 2020-2021 Israeli Premier League Player of the Season and made six appearances in the 2022-2023 UEFA Champions League.
