With August in full swing, the end of the 2024 MLS regular season is just around the corner. After some time off, the 17s will have much to look forward to from Atlanta United and Atlanta soccer. Let’s look ahead to all the events 17s can participate in:
Matches Galore
Atlanta United have nine matches remaining in the regular season. On August 24, the 5-Stripes face off against L.A. Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park. These two clubs have only matched up four times before and the last came at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2022. Fans not traveling to the match will be able to catch all the fun on MLS Pass on Apple TV.
This last stretch of games is extremely important as Atlanta United look to keep their playoff spot. As of mid-August, they are sitting at ninth in the Eastern Conference with 28 points. Nashville, Philadelphia, and Montreal are three of teams they will see in the final stretch. Philadelphia and Montreal sit at 10th and 11th place respectively with 27 points. Nashville has 26 points.

Facing Familiar Foes
Two of the nine matches 17s can look forward to are against Atlanta’s regional rivals – Nashville SC and Charlotte FC. Atlanta has faced both teams once before this season. After their match against LA Galaxy, Atlanta United will play Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium on August 31. Then, the 5-Stripes return to Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the first MLS home match since July 20 against Nashville SC.
Latin Heritage Month
The Nashville match is also Latin Heritage Night for Atlanta United as September 15 through October 15 is Latin Heritage Month.
With each purchase, a fan attending the match can also get an Atlanta United Latin Heritage blanket. Check out the promotions for all the home matches left in the season.
Mayhem against Miami
One of the best wins of the season for the 5-Stripes came back on May 29 when they traveled to Fort Lauderdale to play against a strong Inter Miami team. Atlanta will hope to recreate some of the magic they showed in that 3-1 victory in front of their home crowd on September 18. The last time Atlanta and Miami met at Mercedes-Benz Stadium; the 5-Stripes walked away with a dominant 5-2 win.
Atlanta United 2
The first team is not the only group in Atlanta soccer looking to end the regular season strong. Atlanta United 2 also have nine matches left to play. The 2s are currently sitting on a three-game winning streak after defeating Toronto FC 2-1 on August 11. During the match, Kaiden Moore scored his first professional goal. Rodrigo Neri netted the second-half winner, his third goal in four matches.
Some home matches of note are the August 23 match against Orlando City B and September 15 match against Huntsville City FC.

Unified matches
Atlanta United’s Unified team have two more matches left in their schedule, both against the Unified teams of the opponents the first team plays. For the home match against Nashville, fans will be able to stay after the first team’s game to watch the Unified team take on Nashville’s Unified team.
Atlanta United Unified team is a team of athletes, with intellectual disabilities, and partners, without intellectual disabilities, coming together to play soccer in an inclusive manner. The Unified Team will play against other MLS Unified teams throughout the year.
Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. To commemorate the occasion, Atlanta United will be hosting a Pediatric Cancer Awareness Night. The match against New York Red Bulls at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on October 5 is part of a month-long platform carried out by the club to highlight the great work Atlanta’s hospitals, organizations, and non-profits are doing to make strides in pediatric cancer research while providing excellent care to children that are suffering with cancer or terminal illness.
Seeing some new faces
Atlanta United acquired some new players for 17s to get excited about during the secondary transfer window. To start, the club signed Portuguese defender Pedro Amador on a free transfer through the 2026 MLS Season with an option for 2027. Amador has already logged minutes for Atlanta United. Against D.C. United for Atlanta’s first Leagues Cup match, he made his MLS debut. He made his first start for the club against Santos Laguna.

On July 30, Atlanta United announced the signing of Designated Player Alexey Miranchuk. He marks the first designated player signing for Atlanta in the transfer window. He's won the UEFA Europa League with Atalanta BC and the Russian Cup three times with Lokomotiv Moscow. 17s can look forward to Miranchuk being welcomed into the fold soon.
