Mark your calendars, Atlanta United supporters. December 20 is the day.
Major League Soccer revealed that Tuesday, Dec. 20 will be the date it releases the 2023 schedule. The announcement comes from the official MLS Twitter account as an Easter egg in a coy tweet posted Friday morning. (It's a busy calendar, but look closely at the top under Tuesday in blue.)
The schedule release comes during what will be an eventful week for the sport. Sunday is the FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France. Atlanta United will be hosting an official FIFA World Cup 2022™ Final Watch Party presented by Coca-Cola at the Roxy. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 a.m. (As a member of Argentina's squad, Atlanta United's Thiago Almada is the first active MLS player to make the final and was given a shoutout in the same MLS tweet.)
One day after the slate of 2023 MLS matches is released comes the MLS SuperDraft on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Atlanta United has two picks in this year's draft: no. 7 in the first round and the seventh pick in Round 2. Coverage starts at 4:30 p.m. on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter and MLSSoccer.com.
