With two matches and two clean sheet victories to launch Atlanta United up the Eastern Conference standings, the Five Stripes are getting plenty of love in this week's MLS Team of the Week. Josef Martinez and Miles Robinson are both named to the first XI, with Frank de Boer named MLS Manager of the Week and Brad Guzan being named to the bench.
Miles Robinson has been a huge piece of Atlanta United's league-leading defense, and this week was no different. He had 7 tackles, 9 clearances and 9 interceptions in 180 minutes of action, winning 78% of his duels in the past two matches –– each of which ended in clean sheets.
Meanwhile Josef Martinez was red-hot in the attack, racking up two braces to bring his season tally to 10 on the season –– best for third in the league. He did so on just 8 shots, and chipped in with a steller 86% passing percentage.
If you concede zero goals over 180 minutes, you deserve special recognition. That's what Brad Guzan got with a spot on the MLS Team of the Week bench. And a special shoutout for the gaffer, Frank de Boer, who was named Manager of the Week for the six-point week that brought Atlanta United to the cusp of Eastern Conference supremacy.
