Match Preview: Atlanta United 2 vs New York Red Bulls II

Atlanta United 2 returns to action on Friday, July 6 when it travels to face New York Red Bulls II at MSU Soccer Park. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m. EST and will be streamed live on ESPN+.


Atlanta United 2 fell 3-0 at Nashville SC Saturday, June 30 before 8,815 fans at First Tennessee Park. Despite the loss, three current Atlanta United Academy players saw the field, including 18-year-old midfielder Blake White, who made his professional debut as a second-half substitute while becoming the 32nd player to make an appearance this season for ATL UTD 2.


New York Red Bulls II picked up a point at Louisville City FC in a 3-3 draw Saturday, June 30. Cameron Lancaster scored twice in the first half to put the home side up 2-0, but New York responded with second-half goals from Brian White, Cristian Casseres Jr. and Tom Barlow to take a 3-2 lead. However, Magnus Rasmussen scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time as both sides split the points.


Friday marks the second meeting between ATL UTD 2 and New York Red Bulls II. Atlanta won 3-1 in the club’s inaugural match on March 24. Yosef Samuel scored ATL UTD 2’s first-ever goal while Jon Gallagher added a pair of goals in front of 5,615 fans at Coolray Field.
