Atlanta United 2 returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 15 when it faces Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. EST and will be streamed live on ESPN+. Atlanta United 2 is riding a three-match unbeaten streak and has won its last two consecutive matches. Devon Sandoval and Andrew Carleton each scored to outlast Penn FC Saturday, Sept. 8 in a 2-1 win for the team’s second-straight road win.
Tampa fell 1-0 to Charleston Battery last Saturday as Atlanta-loaned Homegrown Patrick Okonkwo scored the lone goal at MUSC Health Stadium. In the first meeting between Atlanta and Tampa on June 2, Will Crain and Marcel Schafer each were shown a red card in the first half, reducing the game to 10-on-10. Goalkeeper Paul Christensen made four saves and ATL UTD 2 posted its first clean sheet of the season. It marked the first time Tampa Bay had been shutout at home since August 20, 2016.
This is ATL UTD 2’s final road match before finishing the 2018 USL regular season with seven-straight at Coolray Field.
