Series History and Last Meeting
Atlanta United owns the all-time series with a 9-7-1 (W-L-D) record and has won five of the seven previous meetings. The last time these two teams met was earlier this season. Always a high scoring affair between these two sides, five goals were scored but D.C. United stole three points at Mercedes-Benz Stadium to win the first of three total meetings scheduled this year.

Recent Form
Atlanta United came off their bye week looking to win three points at home during Rob Valentino's first match in 2024 as interim head coach. However, Houston Dynamo had other plans and found the equalizer in the 89th minute to draw 2-2. Entering the double matchweek, Atlanta United sits 13th in the Eastern Conference table, but is just three points back of Philadelphia Union in eighth place. Earning points on the road could provide a big lift for the 5-Stripes. Meanwhile, D.C. United has endured a tough run of form since their win at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Black-and-Red have gone winless since that result on May 11. They most recently lost on the road to Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium.
Players to Watch
Xande Silva (Atlanta United) - The midfielder from Portugal is coming off an electric goal in Atlanta United's draw with Houston. Silva hit a golazo at a difficult angle that for the moment gave Atlanta United the lead. It's the second goal in as many matches for Silva after he also scored as a substitute in Atlanta's match against Charlotte.
Christian Benteke (D.C. United) - D.C.'s player to watch is the same as it was last time we previewed these two teams. Benteke scored a hat trick in the previous meeting earlier this year at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The 6-foot-3 forward has been within striking distance for the lead for the Golden Boot all season long. He enters Wednesday's contest just three goals off leader Cristian Arango of Real Salt Lake with 13 goals.
