Recent Form
After a tough run of form and an early exit from Leagues Cup, Atlanta United bounced back in a big way with a shutout win on the road against Seattle Sounders. On the other side, Nashville is coming off a deep run in Leagues Cup that took them all the way to the finals. Nashville eventually lost to Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF in an epic penalty shootout that came down to which goalkeeper could convert.
Series History and Last Meeting
Nashville SC has been the dominant side as of late, winning two of the previous three matchups in the series. The pair of Eastern Conference teams met once already this season back in April. A second-half penalty kick from Thiago Almada wasn't quite enough for Atlanta United to get through Nashville and the visitors fell 3-1 at GEODIS Park.
Players To Watch
Tristan Muyumba (Atlanta United) – The new addition to the 5-Stripes has made an instant impact in a short amount of time. Last weekend, Muyumba made his MLS debut for Atlanta United in the 2-0 win over Seattle. His control and ability to create space for teammates was evident on the pitch and helped Atlanta take seven shots on target. Muyumba played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium before in his club debut in the Leagues Cup match against Cruz Azul (he coolly knocked in a penalty kick in a high stakes situation), and will be looking to show out in front of a full-venue crowd.
Fafà Picault (Nashville SC) – The right-footed winger had a strong Leagues Cup for Nashville SC. Picault scored three in the inaugural tournament, including the set piece goal that equalized Lionel Messi's in the Leagues Cup final. His three goals brought him up to second-leading scorer in all competitions on the team this season behind only Hany Mukhtar. Picault appeared in all seven of Nashville's Leagues Cup matches and started four, making him a threat in the starting XI or off the bench.
