Series History and Last Meeting
Atlanta United and Los Angeles FC have only played each other four times. Atlanta has a record of 2-1-1 against Los Angeles. The last meeting between the two clubs ended in a scoreless draw. Atlanta goalkeeper, Brad Guzan, made several big saves throughout the last match to record his 50th clean sheet with the club.
Recent Form
The comeback draw against Nashville SC was seen as a positive step in the right direction for the 5-Stripes after a stretch of rough play. Up until that draw, they had lost their last three games in MLS play. LAFC have won four of their last five matches; two of those wins were in the Open Cup. Like Atlanta, LAFC is also coming off a midweek match. On Tuesday, they beat Loudoun United 3-0 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Cup.
Players to Watch
Caleb Wiley (Atlanta United) – Five Atlanta homegrowns have logged minutes in MLS play for the club - Caleb Wiley is one of those players. He has taken a more defensive role this season as his responsibility on Atlanta’s backline has grown. Wiley can still get forward and push the offensive when need be; his scoring touch was on full display when he scored a long-range goal against Philadelphia Union earlier this season.
Timothy Tillman (LAFC) – Los Angeles’s midfield is a strong suit of their team. German born Timothy Tillman makes up a large part of that solid structure on both sides of the ball. He has played 13 games this season and has accumulated four goals and four assists.
