How to watch, listen, and stream Atlanta United vs. Chicago Fire FC

Recent Form

Atlanta United is looking for a better result, coming off a 2-0 loss to Toronto FC. With several starters out, the starting XI had a new look. Noah Cobb, Ronald Hernández, Dax McCarty and Tyler Wolff all made their first regular season starts for the 2024 season. Last Saturday’s match also was the first career MLS starts for Jamal Thiaré and Nick Firmino. Recent signing Daniel Ríos also made his Atlanta United debut.

Not only having to juggle a new lineup, but also brave the elements – including icy temperatures and strong wind currents, the match was tightly contested until Toronto broke the score open in the late stages of the first half. The 5-Stripes gained a bit of momentum after halftime, but in the end, Toronto would go on to score the second goal to put the game away. More consistent play during road matches is something the squad has been working towards.

Series History and Last Meeting

Atlanta has a 7-5-2 (W-L-T) record against Chicago. The last meeting between these two clubs ended in a 3-3 draw. The May 2023 match took place at Soldier Field and included a goal from striker Giorgos Giakoumakis. It was a back-and-forth affair as Chicago tied the match in the 89th minute.

Players to Watch

Hugo Cuypers (Chicago Fire FC): Forward Hugo Cuypers scored in Chicago’s last match against the New England Revolution. It was his second straight match with a goal, and he is now tied with now he ties midfielders Brian Gutierrez and Fabian Herbers for the most goals on the team.

Giorgos Giakoumakis (Atlanta United): Giakoumakis was not available for the match against Toronto FC, as he was one of the six players called up during the international window. Representing his home country of Greece, Giakoumakis played in the UEFA Euro qualifiers. Before leaving for the qualifiers, Giakoumakis had two great games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. This included a hat trick in the home opener, as well as a goal and an assist in the third match of the season. If Giorgos is rolling, it only means good things for the 5-Stripes.
