Recent Form

Both teams scored two goals in their season openers but had different results. Atlanta United trailed San Jose Earthquakes most of the match before Almada scored a second-half stoppage time brace to secure three points. Toronto FC's match also had a late-gasp goal, but one scored by Theodore Ku-Dipietro on D.C. United. The late finish ripped a point away from Toronto and gave the Reds their sixth straight loss going back to last season.

Last Meeting

The two clubs met twice last season, and the previous meeting was on September 10, 2022. Center back Juanjo Purata scored a hat trick, all on headers, to lead to a 4-2 Atlanta United win at home.

Toronto FC owns the all-time series record 4-4-4.

Players To Watch

Thiago Almada (Atlanta United) – Atlanta United's midfielder earned MLS Player of the Matchday for his history-making performance against San Jose Earthquakes. Almada received even more good news on Friday when it was announced he was called up for Argentina's first couple of friendlies following the nation's World Cup title. If it's tight match going into second-half stoppage time on Saturday, every eye in the building - and those watching at home on MLS Season Pass - will be looking for Atlanta's no. 23.

Mark-Anthony Kaye (Toronto FC) – It was one of the biggest trades of the MLS offseason in 2022 when Colorado Rapids sent Kaye to Toronto FC. Kaye, a Toronto native, returned to his hometown MLS club and represented his country in the FIFA World Cup. Last weekend, Kaye put his hometown Reds ahead in the 83rd minute against D.C. United, catching the rebound from a free kick from Toronto's other goal scorer, forward Federico Bernardeschi.
