Argentina will have another party to celebrate their World Cup champion squad in the upcoming FIFA window in March.
Lionel Scaloni has called up 35 players to their first friendlies following the World Cup title, among them the 26 who became world champions in Qatar last December. Thiago Almada, who was part of the squad in Qatar, will once again reunite with the National Team as they face Panama (Más Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires) and Curaçao (Madre de Ciudades stadium in Santiago del Estero).
The first match will be played against Panama on Thursday March 23 at the recently renovated Más Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires. The second game will be in the city of Santiago de Estero, Argentina's oldest city located north of the country, against Curaçao.
Back in December Almada became the first MLS active player to win a World Cup, and upon his arrival back to Atlanta he was surprised by a warm welcome of a group of Atlanta United supporters at the airport.
Almada started the 2023 season with two incredible late goals in Atlanta's 2-1 win vs San Jose Earthquakes last Saturday. Almada was also named MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Continental Tire and one of his two goals was also voted as the Goal of the Week (watch highlights at the end of the article).
Atlanta United return home this Saturday to face Toronto FC (7:30 pm | Watch Live on MLS Season Pass on AppleTV), tickets for the match are still available.
