Three weeks in our new home, and three goals of the week to show for it.
Atlanta United has now scored 22 goals in their short time at Mercedes-Benz Stadium so far, and after Greg Garza and Kevin Kratz took home top honors the past two weeks, Tito Villalba's stunning solo effort versus the Montreal Impact has been named this week's AT&T MLS Goal of the Week. Villalba scrapped for possession near the top of the box, nutmegged a defender and sent this unstoppable missile into the top corner for the crucial game-winning goal for the Five Stripes.
After two days of a close race, Atlanta United fans pulled away in voting over the final day. Villalba's finish ended with 67% of the final vote, more than double the second-place finisher. That's now nine Goal of the Week wins for the red, black and gold this season, with Villalba tied with Miguel Almirón for most on the team with three.
Atlanta United will try to keep their scoring touch hot on the road this weekend as they face the New England Revolution, before returning to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to face Minnesota United. Tickets for that one are still available, make sure you've reserved your spot here.
