With the regular season in the rearview mirror, it's time to decide the best of the best of the 2019 MLS season.
Josef Martinez was back to his unstoppable self this season, breaking new records and leaving defenders in his wake. But no moment stood out more than his sensational effort on the road against FC Cincinnati. Minutes after taking the lead, he received the ball at the edge of the box, flicked it beautifully into his path, then cut back into the center. He left one, then a second defender in his wake with just a dip of the shoulder, and then launched a curling effort inside the far post that no goalkeeper could stop.
Brad Guzan ended the season tied for the league lead in clean sheets, but there's one save that stood out above them all. On the road protecting a two-goal lead in a rematch of the 2018 MLS Cup, Portland forward Jeremy Ebobisse rose highest to a header to a cross from the right flank. Guzan was moving across the goal, but planted his foot, changed directions and got low in a hurry to keep out Ebobisse's point-blank effort. It was a stunning save that all but sealed a valuable road win.
