Atlanta United’s Round One Best-of-3 series begins November 1 in Columbus

The Eastern Conference table sorted itself out Saturday and now Atlanta United finally has an opponent for the first round of the Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs. No. 6 Atlanta United will face third-place Columbus Crew in the Round One Best-of-3 series.

Schedule for Round One Best-of-3 Series between No. 6 Atlanta United vs. No. 3 Columbus Crew:

  • Game 1: Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. (in Columbus)
    • TV: FS1 & MLS Season Pass on Apple TV - Radio: Star 94
  • Game 2: Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
    • TV: MLS Season Pass on Apple TV - Radio: 92.9 The Game
  • Game 3 (if necessary): Sunday, Nov. 12 at 7:00 p.m. (in Columbus)
    • TV: MLS Season Pass on Apple TV - Radio: Star 94

The higher seed hosts the first and third matches in the Round One Best-of-3 series, which means Atlanta United will play Game 1 on the road and host Game 2 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Under the new playoff format, the first team to win two matches will advance to the conference semifinals, which are determined by single elimination.

The results from Decision Day mean Atlanta United finishes in the same spot they entered Saturday's matchup: No. 6. Atlanta United entered Decision Day knowing the club could reach no higher than fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings, which cut the number of possibilities for the club's first round opponent down to a few. Atlanta United finished Saturday with a strong 2-2 draw on the road against the Supporters' Shield winners, FC Cincinnati.
