Atlanta has been shaped, influenced, and built by Black leaders, artists, and changemakers. Designs featured in the Black history Atlanta United scarf are a celebration and representation of quilting patterns that honor bold patterns of Black culture and liberation.
The scarf is treated to look like a quilt, with sew lines and rough edges as if pieces of cloth were cut and sewn together. African American quilts were often raw and vibrant, stitched together with scarce resources and ingenuity. The use of red, black, and green pays homage to the diverse heritage and people of the African Diaspora. Red symbolizing the blood and sacrifice, black representing the ancestry, and green signifying the wealth and resilience of the Black community.
