Atlanta United 2 announced the signing of American midfielder Alan Carleton on March 15, 2023. The Power Springs, Georgia native was a member of the first-ever Atlanta United Academy team that took the field in 2016 at the Generation Adidas Cup.
In 2023, Carleton finished the MLS NEXT Pro season with 19 appearances, including seven starts, and an assist in 722 minutes played. In March 2023, Carelton was signed to a Short-Term Agreement with the First Team and made the match day roster as the Five Stripes took on the Columbus Crew. Carelton progressed through the club’s Academy ranks and earned his professional debut with ATL UTD 2 in 2022 before the club joined MLS NEXT Pro. He finished his first professional season with 12 appearances, including two starts, and 276 total minutes played.
Alan’s brother, Andrew Carleton, was the first homegrown signing for the franchise in 2016.
