Career Summary

Hernandez, 21, spent his entire professional career at Caracas FC of Venezuela’s Primera Division before joining Atlanta as a Discovery Signing on Dec. 13, 2017. On Aug. 19, 2018, he earned his first Matchday 18 with Atlanta United and made his MLS debut just a month later. Hernandez has been a fixture with Venezuela’s National Team at the U-17 and U-20 levels. He made four starts over five appearances at the 2017 U-20 World Cup in South Korea, helping guide Venezuela to the final where it fell to England. It was the first-ever World Cup final appearance for Venezuela’s U-20 team.

2018 (Atlanta United): Made his MLS debut on September 22 in a 2-0 victory against Real Salt Lake. The Venezuelan defender came on as a second-half substitute and logged 17 minutes. He was included in the Matchday 18 for the first time earlier in the season on August 19 against Columbus. USL: Appeared in 14 matches of Atlanta United 2’s first season in USL. Hernandez made 10 starts and played 989 minutes. He totaled four shots on the season from his left back position, with one of those shots going on target.  

2017 (Caracas): Hernandez made 14 starts.

2016 (Caracas): Hernandez started three matches and made 10 appearances.

2013/14 (Caracas): Hernandez made one appearance, his professional debut, starting against Deportivo La Guaira (Feb. 23, 2014). He played 56 minutes in the 4-1 win.

INTERNATIONAL: Hernandez has represented Venezuela’s National Team with the U-17 and U-20 teams. In 2013, he helped lead the U-17 squad to a second-place finish in the South American Championship, which qualified Venezuela for the U-17 World Cup. Later that year Hernandez made two appearances in the U-17 World Cup against Russia and Tunisia. He made four appearances in the 2017 U-20 South American Championship where Venezuela finished in third place to qualify for the 2017 U-20 World Cup. He went on to make four starts over five appearances at the 2017 U-20 World Cup in South Korea, helping guide Venezuela to the final where they fell to champions England. It was the first-ever World Cup final appearance for Venezuela’s U-20 team.
